To Penelope
And so the gods gave me my homecoming,
and we are together again in our own bed.
Oh to lie here with you after so many years
of war, of trial, of wandering and suffering! What bliss to hold you in my arms,
to feel your deep kisses and bare breasts on mine,
to wrap our legs together after twenty long years!
O Penelope! Thank the gods we’re together again! For twenty years I savored the memories
of the wild nights and summer of our youth.
They were nothing compared to this sweet night,
after many hard years of faithfulness and love.
