Greetings, Geoff.
Forgive the number of posts you are getting in reply to your single
one, though were I to do justice to you in a single post, that single post
would be quite lengthy.
No, you don't have to take my word for anything. The current Baha'i
history to which I refer has been quite extensively documented. It was
followed with great interest by people on Baha'i e-mail lists who saw this
unfold before their eyes on their computer screens. Many of the documents
have been posted to web pages and indeed the archives of this newsgroup
contain some.
I do not believe the facts are in doubt. For example, Michael McKenny
did meet with Susie Tamas, she did invite him to write to the UHJ, his
letter and the reply are available, he continued to post to Baha'i e-mail
lists, without further notice he received a letter stating the UHJ had said
he could no longer be considered a member of the Baha'i community, this led
to quite extensive followup, including some detailed analysis of the more
explanatory letter from the UHJ when that at length came.
It is my belief that as a result of the less than completely positive
publicity gained by the UHJ through such correspondance and discussion, it
would behave more honourably in the future. The April letter concerning
the dangerous Internet as well as a resignation by an Assistant claiming
among other things to find spying on believers distasteful, lends some
support to those who argue otherwise.
The other cases have also taken place, some in the full gaze of those
people on Baha'i e-lists while they happened. If you or anyone wishes more
documentation, I am sure you'll not want for lack of material. Indeed, if
I am proved wrong and the UHJ continues previous action into the future,
you may well merely have to continue reading this newsgroup to see what,
gods willing, is on the contrary only past history.
                                                       All the Best,
                                                          Michael
