NOTICE 10-6-03
Susan Maneck and other fundamentalists here on AOL, among my fellow bahais, we're attempting in late 2002 and early 2003 to get the AOL bahai message boards to expire by NOT posting to them. Having DRIVEN most people out or off the boards, there were few people left to notice what they were up to. Despite the claims made previously in this thread, I would not rule out the possibility that in some way they eventually acheived their goal of marginalizing these boards--if you can't control them completely, get rid of them.... or as much as possible.

I have not visited the AOL Baha'i board in quite a while and now can not access it. My favorites listing produces a message that tells me "I am not allowed in this area." ?? Is it still there? The last time I visited, there were very few folders left....just wondering!

I'm afraid you arrived a day too late. The Board has disappeared and we are now relegated to this one folder.

Hi everyone,
It's been awhile since I vistied. Susan, thank
you for the kind words.
It's funny, I decided to post either yesterday or
the day before and the next time I checked back
I got that mean message that I was "denied access."
I felt terrible and quickly emailed Susan and found
out what was going on.
I'm sorry the board disappeared but at least there
is this folder; many of you have been here for
years and it would be a shame to just lose it so suddenly.
My original message just mentioned that I now have
a DSL line; AOL doesn't accomodate my cute outdated iMac
on Broadband so I don't use dial-up very
often to sign on to AOL. I'm nuts, because now I pay for two services (one for my son who likes the DSL, and one for me to keep AOL because I'm use to the email addresses.) Anyway...
I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to drop
by every once in a while to say hello.
I never found out what happened to Rule...

Dear Ken,
It is a long story. But briefly when anti-Arab and anti-Islamic threads were declared off topic, Rule left in a huff.

Hello Rob,
In reference to your comment:
v Now the question is: What the hell is going on with
v AOL? It's bad enough that the Bahv'v Message Boards
v are relegated to the "other" folder while Paganism gets
v its own, but now those interested in visiting and
v contributing to the former v even if only occasionally
v v are treated as non-citizens. We pay our AOL
v access bills too; we should have equal consideration.
I agree. It's pretty pathetic. But then I think a lot of Baha'is were chased away by all the negativity from before. Perhaps if we manage to keep a nice friendly board here, people will come and fill it with posts. Then AOL will notice and give us more to work with. We can always hope anyway. :)
Love, Wendy

Dear Wendy,
The Board languished *after* the 'negative' folks left. The sad truth is that controversy feeds the internet and without controversy the Board died.

Dear Rob,
I really think we have no one but ourselves to blame. We let the Message Board languish and this is what happened.

Friends,
I tried to ignore old Fred and his anti-Baha'i rantings, but when I checked the next messages, they still showed up on my screen. Doesn't this work?
Loving Bahá'í R greetings, Wendy
