Invocation, BOOK VII, The Parliament of Poets<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“O Divine Light, that never stops shining,
\nbeyond our atmosphere, Eternal Radiance,
\nthough we may be oblivious of thee,
\nsustain us with thy rays of warmth and light,
\nsustenance unseen, heating our earthly realm,
\nwith beams, beyond our ken, but not our need.
\nI ask thee once again to lift me up
\nlike a drooping plant shut off from thee,
\nto carry further forth this epic song,
\nwhose glory, if ever won,\u00a0belongs to thee.
\nThou seest my need and frailty.
\nMercy and compassion I crave of thee,
\nnot merely for myself but all humanity.
\nLet us not destroy ourselves. Help us find
\na new vision that we may humbly serve,
\nrestore the cosmic order now, a wider
\nharmony in tune with thee, your global realm…”<\/p>\n
